LACUNA

A short film by Elisa Pontes - 2021

In this minimalist black-and-white animation, Elisa Pontes depicts a feminine entity that, like a black hole, absorbs everything it touches. When she invited me to create the audio for Lacuna, I chose to mirror her visual restraint: sparse instrumentation—piano, synth, and low percussion—and a deliberately thin sonic presence throughout the film. Drawing from the piano works of Claude Debussy, I sought to illuminate the desolation that permeates Lacuna, weaving silence itself into the fabric of the score.
