A composition for cello solo

I composed Level 1 in 2020 to push the possibilities of cello playing beyond the instrument itself. Inspired by composers like Mauricio Kagel, I use the cello as an extension of the performer’s body, calling on her voice, feet, and arms as part of her instrument. The sonic aspect of Level 1 is driven by rhythm and is inspired by blues and metal.
