IL DIAVOLO ZOPPO

Il Diavolo Zoppo, Luigi Maggi's 1909 silent film restored by the Cineteca di Bologna, became the canvas for a score that earned me the film scoring competition at Il Cinema Ritrovato festival. The music is improvised, guided by parameters defined in advance for each scene of the film. The ensemble features myself on piano, Filippo Orefice on tenor saxophone and clarinet, and Federico Gueci on double bass. All three of us also weaving in our voices and an arsenal of toys and small percussion instruments. The film was screened twice during the festival, accompanied by our live performance
