TARIFA

Man o to, derakht o baroon, 2017

Founded by Persian singer-songwriter Kimya Ghorbani, Tarifa was active between 2015 and 2018, giving voice to compositions deeply rooted in classical Persian poetry. In its Italian incarnation, the ensemble took shape around piano, accordion, electric guitar, double bass, cello, and percussion.

I served as Tarifa's pianist and arranger, shaping Kimya's songs within that instrumentation. The video above is the official music video for the song titled "Man o To, Derakht o Baroon."

Kimya's artistic and personal journey was later told by BBC Farsi, in an episode of the program Bolour Banafsh—featured at the bottom of this page—with Tarifa at its very center.
